Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our raw denim and fits

What is raw denim?

Raw denim is denim that has not been washed or distressed during the manufacturing process. It is stiff at first but fades and shapes to your body over time, creating a unique patina.

How should I wash my jeans?

To preserve the indigo and achieve high-contrast fades, we recommend soaking your jeans in cold water with mild detergent after 6 months of wear. Always hang dry.

What does 'Sanforized' mean?

Sanforization is a process that pre-shrinks the fabric. Most of our jeans are sanforized, meaning they will shrink minimally (about 1-3%) after the first wash.

Do you offer hemming services?

Yes, we offer Union Special chainstitch hemming on all orders. Please note that hemmed jeans are final sale and cannot be returned.

How do I choose the right size?

Since raw denim fits differently than mass-market jeans, we recommend measuring your best-fitting pair of jeans and comparing them to our specific fit charts.

Does the indigo bleed?

Yes, indigo transfer is normal for raw denim. Be cautious when wearing your new jeans near light-colored furniture, car seats, or white sneakers.
